Sports Psychology
This is a space for reflection, support, and growth, where performance, mindset, identity, and the challenges of sport can be explored with care, honesty, and clarity.
What to Expect
Sports psychology offers athletes a space to better understand the mental, emotional, and relational aspects of performance. My goal is to provide a supportive and grounded environment where athletes can process challenges, strengthen confidence, improve focus, and grow both in their sport and as a person.
My Approach
My approach to sports psychology is relational, supportive, and growth-oriented. I draw from person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, strengths-based work, grounding techniques, and performance-focused mental skills support to help athletes better understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and performance patterns. Grounding techniques can also be helpful in managing pressure, regulating emotions, and staying present in high-stress moments. I want the process to feel both supportive and purposeful.
With over a decade of experience playing and coaching sports, including basketball, football, volleyball, and golf, I bring both personal understanding and practical insight into the athletic experience. I understand the pressure to perform, the weight of expectations, and the challenges that can come with balancing sport, identity, relationships, and personal well-being.
While I am not a licensed sports psychologist, I do offer counseling and therapy to athletes informed by my background, experience, and perspective.
Areas of Support
Sports psychology can be helpful for performance anxiety, confidence, focus, motivation, pressure, burnout, identity outside of sport, injury recovery, team dynamics, coaching relationships, and navigating transitions within athletics. It can also be a space to build mental resilience, strengthen emotional regulation, and grow in both performance and overall wellbeing.
Who This Is For
This work can support athletes at many levels, including youth athletes, high school athletes, college athletes, former athletes, and those who simply want help navigating the mental and emotional side of sport. It can also be helpful for athletes who are trying to balance sport, school, family, relationships, faith, and personal wellbeing.
Faith Integration
Faith can be part of the process in a way that feels natural and client-led. For some athletes, that may include prayer before or after a session. For others, it may simply mean working with a counselor who has a Catholic background. Athletes are also welcome to explore how faith connects to performance, identity, pressure, purpose, and growth. Faith is incorporated only to the extent the client desires and in a way that feels natural, respectful, and supportive.
